I was born in Michigan in 1980. In 1985, my father took a job with Associated Whosale Grocers in Springfield, and so my family made the very difficult decision to leave our extended family in Michigan and move to Springfield.
Though I dearly missed my family in Michigan, and spent my summers there, I greatly enjoyed my childhood in Springfield. I graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1998, and moved on to Drury University the following fall. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Drury in 2002.
After substitute teaching for a year, I accepted a postition teaching fifth and sixth grade in Pleasant Hope, Missouri. During my time there, I married my high school sweetheart, Andy, and soon after we had our daughter, Gracie.
In 2007, I decided that it was time to leave Pleasant Hope. I was thrilled when I was offered the position with Willard, because it was the district I had always wanted to be a part of. During my first year in Willard, I taught 5th grade communication arts. When a need arose for an additional sixth grade teacher, I jumped at the chance, and here I am!
I currently live with my husband, daughter, and dog (Daisy) in the town of Battlefield. I enjoy reading, shopping, playing with my daughter, singing in the car, and jogging. I love the color pink, and cheesecake. My favorite book of all time is “City of Ember,” and my favorite movie of all time is “The Wizard of Oz.”
