Red Ribbon Week was a great success last week! We had many students participate by wearing some fun outfits that went with our drug-free theme.
Don’t forget that parent-teacher conferences are onTuesday and Thursday night this week. If you still need to schedule one, please give me a call. First quarter grade cards and MAP scores will be handed out at this time. Fall parties will be on Wednesday at 3:00. Parents are welcome to attend. Our iChoose assembly will also be held on Wednesday.
The One for Books Challenege is on once again this year. For every cent donated, Scholastic will match the donation for books for needy children across the country. Plus, we get free books for our classroom, so bring your spare change and drop it in the cup! The classes who raise the most money will be rewarded!
There is no school on Friday, October 30th.
This week in social studies, we will finish up our presentations on the continents. We will continue to study Mesopotamia and the Sumerian civilization. The students will be writing a journal entry “A Day in the Life of…” based on a Sumerian job that they were assigned in class. They will also learn about the Code of Hammurabi.
In science, students will be finishing up their study of rocks, weathering, and soil formation with a review and test. We will start fossils next week.
