Many thanks to Ms. White, our special guest speaker this week. The students had an opportunity to learn about recycling, products made from recycled materials, local recycling centers and a little about watersheds. We were able to come back to the classroom and tie this information in to the Aquatic Resources unit that we are currently studying.
This week in science we will be learning about water quality and watersheds. In social studies we will finish up our study of Greece and the birth of democracy. The test over Ch. 11 will be next Thursday.
The MAP reward barbeque is this Friday. All students will be provided with a hot dog lunch. Also, students who earned it will be given some extra recess time.
Monday, April 26th is Talent Night here at WIS. Along with the talent show, there will be an interest fair and a writing fair. Writing fair entries will be on display outside the rooms. Our team had many wonderful writing entries and won a lot of ribbons!
The fishing field trip that coincides with our Aquatic unit is schedule for Wednesday, May 5th. I have sent out a letter requesting parent volunteers. Please let me know if you can help with this field trip by supervising students or manning an education station. Permission slips for this trip will go out at the end of the week.
The 6th grade Branson IMAX field trip is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18th. Permission slips for this trip have been sent home.
REMINDER: Friday, May 7th is a half day. Students will be released at 12:30.
Have a great week! 🙂
