Week of August 20th

Wow! It was great getting to know all of my new students. The first week is always a little overwhelming for everyone involved, but now we can get back into the routine of a new school year.

For science this year, students will need to pick out one of their pocket folders to become their science folder. This will be a place to keep handouts, worksheets and graded assignments. Students will also need to pick out one of their spiral notebooks or composition books for use as a science journal. We’ll do lots of learning activities in this journal throughout the year.

I will send out a weekly newsletter via email along with my weekly post on my blog. In it, you’ll learn about units we are currently studying, project due dates, study groups and tutoring, and test dates. I will also occasionally request help with the purchase of special items for labs and projects. Please be sure to bookmark my blog and ensure that your email address is up to date in SIS so that you don’t miss any of these important emails.

For our first unit in science, we’ll be studying the scientific method. There is no text for this unit, so don’t be alarmed when your child does not bring one home for the next couple of weeks!

Picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28th. Fliers with poses and prices will be sent home on Monday, August 20th. Students should bring their picture money on picture day to give directly to the photographer.

Have a great week! 🙂
