Week of September 10th

Our little dose of fall weather sure was refreshing this weekend. Our family enjoyed a lot of time outdoors which was incredibly relaxing. We’ll pay for it with our allergies, but I’m glad we had such a beautiful weekend to enjoy!

This week in science, we’ll be wrapping up our unit on the scientific method. This is such an important unit, because the skills we develop in this unit will help students become more scientific thinkers in every area of science. We’ll examine observations and data collecting as well as forming conclusions. At the end of the week, I’ll be asking students to complete their own experiment using the sponge animal capsules that we collected. This experiment will be for students to complete independently at home.

Upcoming Dates in Science:

Friday, September 14- Sponge Animal Capsule Experiment will be assigned to students

Monday, September 17- Sponge Animal Capsule Experiment Due; Test Review

Tuesday, September 18- Study group for test @ 7:45 am; TEST over scientific method TODAY!!

Other Class News:

StuCo elections will be this Friday. Interested candidates must have permission slips turned in and may hang up one poster board sized poster in our classroom beginning Tuesday. Candidates will also have time to give a short speech before elections on Friday, if they would like.

Thanks for all your hard work with our Tiger Card Fundraiser. Our class sold 92 cards, which I thought was amazing!

Hard to believe, but its already time for our midquarter progress checks. The end of mid-quarter is this Friday, so please be sure that all late and absent work is turned in for an accurate reflection of how your student is doing so far! Progress reports will be sent home the following week.

REMINDER- No School on Monday, September 24th.
