This week in science students will finish up the rocks unit and begin the weathering and soil unit. We’ll review for the rocks test on Monday and Tuesday, with the study guide going out on Monday. There will be study groups on Wednesday- before school at 7:45 and after school until 4:15. The test will be Thursday. At the end of the week, students will be introduced to our our unit on weathering and soil.
During the soil unit, there are two labs in which we will need help with materials. For our soil horizons lab, we will be making soil sundaes. I will need several food items to complete this lab and will list them on my wish list page (you can find this page along the left side of this blog or click here). For our soil testing lab, I will need soil samples. I’d like at least 8-10 different soil samples from various locations (creek bed, pasture, garden, etc) so if you have an opportunity in the next couple of weeks (after the snow melts and the ground warms a little!) to collect a soil sample, I would appreciate it! Soil samples can simply be bagged in a one gallon ziplock bag labeled with the location from which it was collected.
Our annual talent show is coming up soon. Tryouts will be next Tuesday-Thursday. Interested students should see Mrs. Morris in music for a permission slip.
Next Friday, March 8th is an early release day at 12:30 pm.
There will be NO SCHOOL March 10-15 for Spring Break!
Have a great week! 🙂 🙂
